lyrics

It’s like we only get together for funerals, singing off in the key of life
fam couldn't match with a square...until they need a light
We was all conceived in Buick regals on cheeba nights
Grew up 12 deep playing from sun up to street lights
'Member they called police twice on us just for rollin dice
that cold night when ***** sliced ********* with his own knife
our whole tribe was right there...middle of the night
Us kids was front row like a mayweather fight,
That whole sight was trife we wasn't scared but it wasn't right
When the streetlight reflected off the blade of son knife
Switchblade to the face...whole side was sliced rare
We ain't sleep for a week that whole vibe was a nightmare
Member that, ...me, you all our cousins was right there
Now we spaced out we ain't seen each other in light years
And heavy seasons we all had to get it from the mud
For whatever reason they say ain't nothing thicker than blood
Back then, if it was Saturday, you know what it was
Paying nintendo at the cabaret in the room where the coats was
Yeah I know Cuz..the hallway them old rugs
steppin over uncles laid out off them old drugs
Now we got new drugs, and we got our own kids
We all wanna be a millionaire but we don't phone friends
we can barely remember the block...all roads end
we was rock solid in the past but that's Stonehenge
But now we don't know what we stood for just close kin
Hoods war, we don't even know when we go in
Back then it was like all cousins was close friends
Now we like soldiers home after a war ends
Some of us found a way forward, some did not
the lucky ones only got metaphorically shot
Going back to the old hood feels like ‘da 5 bloods’
See the downaman field and that tree where that hive was
‘Member anybounce? a beer can was second base
Any time you heard ‘March get set’...it was a race
We went straight into a world that wasn't setup for our race
And Grew up and found we too melanated to elevate it
How else should I state it, I know you frustrated
But it can't just be over beer cans that we touch base
Regardless if our parents get it straight, we must make it
Whatever demons they couldn't shake, we must break em
So when I saw you on the ‘gram and the ‘book
I said we both starting to look just our grandparents look
We gettin old and that's a blessing many of us did not
I clicked like on all your pics and sent you a inbox
It was good to catch up...you know how we do
The realest question was first one you asked ‘how are you?’
‘I was struggling for a minute big cuz I couldn't call it
Panic attacks and post traumatic stress had me pressed
But therapy gave me a healthier circle of righteous brothas
faith in God and Christ was discovered, I recovered
I said I know you had a similar struggle……...
You saw the same things that tore my soul up, I’ll give you that number’
You said ‘therapy? Thats what them brothers den got u on huh
only Christian brothers I know I might mix with a soda
Prolly too much of that too be honest’
And after a long pause of silence...I heard you crying
I said ‘you always was a positive brother
We used to idolize our uncles riding bikes every summer now times tight for us brother
I mean bleed, we need somethin’
you said ‘God show up just when you need, slide me that number
I got some things I need to heal with my seed and some stressz that’s on my brain
So when you doin that praying send when one up for ya boy’
